The Rapsòdia [Rhapsody] has been transcribed for Piano and Wind Orchestra by Jordi León commissioned by the Banda Municipal de Barcelona from the two original versions of the work Rapsòdia by Manuel Oltra, one for Piano and Cobla and the other for Piano and Symphony Orchestra.

His works for cobla, in addition to the harmonizations of a hundred traditional Catalan dances, include more than a dozen concert works of various lengths and instrumentation, as well as an extensive catalog of sardanas. As a composer, Manuel Oltra always tries to create new and interesting combinations of sounds.

He was the first composer to combine the cobla with other instruments not traditionally found in that formation, achieving new and interesting rhythmic and melodic combinations.

Rapsòdia for Piano and Cobla (1953) stands out among the works of Manuel Oltra for being his first work composed for this combination of instruments.

Due to its success as well as its great timbral diversity, in 2004 Manuel Oltra wrote a new version of the work for piano and symphony orchestra which was published that same year by Boileau Music Publishing.

The work Rapsòdia is also available in a version for two pianos, with the orchestra arranged by the composer himself for a second piano, in order to facilitate the study of the work by the solo pianist.
