The work of Enrique Granados (1867-1916) is an extensive catalog in which the songs have a place of honor because they contributed, together with the piano work, to the expansion of the composer's fame internationally. In addition, Granados, as a musician committed to the musical chore of his time, contributed to the introduction of the song in the concert hall at a time when Spanish music was looking for its incorporation into European contemporaneity - what Granados also did in the orchestral and chamber music, areas that unfortunately remain largely unknown. However, the Tonadillas and the Love Songs have a privileged place in the songwriter's repertoire, both collections being destined for a female singer. These are unquestionably some of the best known and best works of this genre with text in Spanish.

The songs in Catalan of Granados have reached a much smaller repercussion, although from the edition of songs of Garci'a Morante they have begun to have a hollow in the current discography. These songs with text in Catalan have in their majority a huge musical interest, and they are far from the Spanish nationalism in which the work of Granados is classified, a classification that is clearly inaccurate, as we can see from the Catalan songs. One of them, the eternal Elegy, is one of his most expressive compositions, like the one included in this selection, La Boyra. If Granados had only written the aforementioned compositions, it would deserve a preeminent place in the history of Spanish and universal music.

For masculine voice Granados composed only four songs, all for baritone - La boyra, El majo olvidado, Cantar I - Día y noche Diego ronda, and Canción del postillón.
