Turull composed Variations on a Granados' theme in 1996. It's a work dedicated to the pianist Douglas Riva. It is inspired by a facsimile of a manuscript that Granados family gave to Xavier Turull. With the theme that showed the manuscript, Turull created seven variations and a coda.
