From a young age, Ruera dedicated part of his time to education. In 1927 he won the competitions for music teacher at the new Granollers Municipal School of Music, with a jury chaired by Master Joan Bta. Lambert.

Shortly before the Civil War began, Ruera served as a music teacher at the modern Montesori school, considered throughout Europe as one of the most advanced schools in children's culture and pedagogy. In 1945 he was appointed director of the Granollers Municipal School of Music, of which he was a teacher, a position he held until 1983. From this dedication and interest in education, together with his love for family, his work Vals Moderado, written in 1939 and dedicated to his eldest daughter, as he himself indicates in the heading of the work: «Offering to my daughter M. Asunción at her feast day. Granollers, August 15, 1939 ». It is a small four-handed work, with a part for the student and another for the teacher, where Ruera makes it clear that the role of the teacher is to help his disciple at all times: "The teacher will seek, in this part, advance the right hand inwards so that the student's left hand can freely touch».
