THE MATERIALS HAVE TO BE HIRED

A work in three movements based on music inspired by the movie Safety last! (1923) by Fred Newmeyer. This work was composed for the 1923 movie of the same name directed by Fred Newmeyer, staring Harold Lloyd. It is especially famous for the image of Lloyd hanging from the hands of a clock at the top of a tall building.

The first movement of the suite is titled «Bolton Building». It is a description of the Bolton building, which symbolizes the energy of the protagonist, a young man eager to do anything to find success and the love of his life. The second and third movements, titled «Harold and Mildred» and «Lucky Day», are related to different sections of the film. They are combined for purely musical reasons. «Harold and Mildred» combines themes that describe two young people in love and their meetings. While «Lucky Day» conveys the atmosphere of happiness, good humor and joy that characterize the film.
