Rhapsody for Saxophone and Piano was composed in October, 2011 at the request of the duo of Albert Julià, saxophone and Daniel García, piano. The work is dedicated to them. The Rhapsody is a very lyric work written in one movement with various sections with its principal element being the three registers of the saxophone: low, middle and high. The notes which define these sonic areas form a short motive which is first presented and developed by the piano. This motive was the inspiration for the work and gives it structure.
