El llibre de nines, second series of Piano Infantil by Narcisa Freixas, is a compilation of six small pieces designed for the first courses in the piano. There is evidence that, when this composer died suddenly, the edition was being prepared. It remained unpublished, until the posthumous publication of the book Obras de Narcisa Freixas, tribute edition of 1928. This last one has been the source of the current reissue, given that the original manuscripts are missing, according to the consultations and the affirmation of the granddaughter of the composer, Mrs. Magda Petit i Codina.

It is a select work that contains a prologue by Víctor Català (pseudonym of the writer Caterina Albert i Paradís). Each of the pieces, which refers to a doll, is accompanied, as well as the first volume, with drawings by Pere Torné-Esquius and poems by Francesc Sitjà.

Technically, the hands are usually in a fixed position, with some displacement, but it does not restrict the use of the black keys and thus we find tonalities such as My Major that reach up to four alterations.

The pieces that make up the Llibre de nines, differ from the first series of children's piano in that they have practically no indication of tempo, dynamics or agógica in general, only the notes and the rhythms. We have refrained from including any, with a maximum respect for the source, since these can be deduced by the character of the pieces, which are highly poetic: Narcisa Freixas poured all her mother's love into them. Yes, a minimum number of fingerings have been indicated, considering that it is a work for children.
