Pack of 20 parts for children choir

I have always been interested in composing works which incorporate a literary text. However, curiously, only on very few occasions have I done that in what is the most common manner, the song. It is the text itself that leads me to pursue creative investigations and also the text that suggests to me what form the music should take. It is as if the words and music join together in complete unity.

One of my favorite poets is Charles Baudelaire because of the intensity and profundity of his poems. There is no doubt that due to my father’s magnificent translations into Catalan of various French poets I have been able to enter into a world which without his clear and poetic translations I would never have discovered. .

In 1991 I wrote Dos poemes de Charles Baudelaire [Two Poems of Charles Baudelarie], for baritone and orchestra and in 2007 a short piano piece titled A la manera de Baudelaire, [In the Style of Baudelaire].
Les flors del mal [Flowers of Evil], those “sick flowers”, as Baudelaire himself described them his dedication to Théophile Gautier, have inspired what is my most recent work.

It is dedicated to Daniel Tosi in recognition of his long devotion to Catalan music in general and especially to my music in particular.

I selected three poemsas: L’home i la mar [Man and the Sea], La bellesa [Beauty] y Reversibilitat [Reversibility]. The first is for baritone, the second for soprano and the third for soprano and baritone.
