The IV volume of songs by Joan Llongueres is a selection of 15 pieces from the extensive repertoire that the musicologist and composer composed for the use of general education and music teachers, for monitors in recreational centres and for teachers in specialised schools.

The present reprint will help to prevent them from falling into oblivion by rediscovering their educational possibilities. Because, despite the fashions and aesthetic trends of the moment, the children of today and tomorrow, those of here and there, must be able to develop their bodies, their sensitivity, their emotions... and they must be able to enjoy the joy of life. This is precisely what these children's songs and games were created for:

"These songs are made exclusively for the joy of the little ones and to give them satisfaction of life and in them they are only intended to make the children play and jump and laugh with things that are familiar to them. Their main educational action lies precisely in that: that, by singing them, the children unfold all their activity, an activity full of their living, in beautiful things that are within their reach."
Joan Llongueres

It is, then, the skill and task of the new educators to combine tradition and modernity and to use what comes to us from outside without devaluing what is our own. Only by putting this spirit of openness into practice, both in the human and artistic sense, will we be able to transmit to our boys and girls some of the values they need to live in the 21st century.
