L'emigrant is a choral work with text by Jacinto Verdaguer and music by Amadeo Vives. Dedicated to the Orfeó Catalán and premiered by this Orfeó on April 8, 1894, it has become a nostalgic patriotic song, especially for the exiles, emblematic and representative of the Catalan national identity.
This is one of the most popular poems harmonized for Vives, who escorted the poem for the first time from the lips of same Verdaguer on the floor that he had on Aragon Street in Barcelona. When Vives composed the music of L'emigrant, a few months ago he had died a super mother (1892).
