The Fantasia concertante for piano and string orchestra, written in 1958, is the work for the largest device in Carlota Garriga's production. Direct and spontaneous in expression, the score follows a formal structure in a fully neoclassical spirit in three movements: an initial "Allegro" in sonata form, an inspired "Andante cantabile" written in Sicilian rhythm and the final "Allegro deciso", with a rondo structure. The score was premiered at the "Concepció Alemany" competition organised by Juventudes Musicales in 1960 and performed by the four finalists at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
