We collect in a volume the texts that, from the year 1982 to the present of 1994, can define and express, with certain clarity, the way of thinking and feeling of the composer who has been writing them.
The composer's mission is, without a doubt, to write music and, with it, "say" what, in the famous words of Schönberg, can only be expressed with music and only with it; This is true and we have always tried, in our music, to say only musical things. But it is also true that there are certain ways of thinking and feeling that do not always find adequate expression with music (although in it the most intimate and closed of our being is deposited and although with it, perhaps, we say what we cannot - nor should it be said otherwise) and they need the help or formulation of the word and its specific way of structuring and, therefore, of transmitting itself.
We leave aside other youthful texts, perhaps to be published later, that could finish defining the composer's mood and way of life, and we stick to those that began to be published since 1982, not as a critic of concerts and records or program commentaries, but as essays or attempts to think about the musical phenomenon and the social, political, religious, or psychological circumstances that necessarily interfered, and still continue to do so now, in evolution - or in fixing certain ways of writing or to consider the creative problem of the artist.
