This book deals with various aspects related to the use of the pedal in the three outstanding facets of Enrique Granados: performance, composition and teaching. For this, a deep process of searching, reading and analyzing sources has been carried out. Many of them (manuscripts, generally) we have not located and we have given them up as lost, hoping to find new data in the future that will yield more information on this subject. It would be of special interest to find new writings or annotations by Granados about the use of the pedal (or pedals), as a result of his activity as a teacher, that provide more data (for example, the use of pedal graduations) to elaborate a more theory complete.

The work presented is divided into three parts, in relation to the three facets of Granados noted above. The first addresses the use of the pedal in the Catalan pianist's performance, where the origins and influence of his technique are exposed through a study from his time as a student and his first concerts. The second section develops the pedal as a compositional element, analyzing the pedal symbols of all his piano works, including revisions. The last part includes the teaching of the pedal through the analysis of the preserved works, their application in the Academy and the first publication of two of their methods that have remained unpublished and, despite being incomplete, are of great value for the study of the pedagogical facet most developed by Granados.
