El rayo que no cesa [The Ray That Never Ends] was inspired by reading the poems of Miguel Hernádez. Written in the form of a series of brief pieces, the work is scored for for two voices and instrumental ensemble. The mood alternates between lyrical, crude and dramatic, and is always searching for a sonic atmosphere that conveys these emotions. The voices and instruments are interwoven and complement each other without either one predominating, leaving the beauty of the text free to emerge. This is a version for baritone, mezzo-soprano and piano.
It was premiered in 2010 at the Festival de Música Contemporánea de Alicante.
II. Mi sien, florido balcón...
III. Tal es la mala virtud...
IV. Recojo con las pestañas...
V. ¿A dónde iré...?
VI. Descansar de esta labor...
VII. Pero al fin podré vencerte...
VIII. Sigue, sigue, pues, cuchillo...
