1. Motius de cançó (1937) [Song Motives]

The principal source for this edition is the holograph manuscript written in ink preserved in the Fons Manuel Blancafort at the Biblioteca de Catalunya, reference number M.4891/19b. The manuscript contains several corrections written in pencil, which appear to have been written later, affecting the dynamics of the vocal part but no do present any alternatives. Consequently, they have not been used in this edition and we have maintained the original indications. In the same manuscript there is also a version of the piece for soprano, harp and chamber orchestra with strings and winds (M.4891/19a), a version created for Carles Suriñach in 1946. This version has provided clarity for some doubts about notation, dynamics and articulation.

The source for the text is the original poem by Josep Mª LópezPicó, written in 1929 and published by Selecta in 1948 as part of the collection Carnet de ruta. In the composer’s transcription the title was given as «Motiu de cançó», which has been corrected according to the original manuscript.

2. Preguntes melangioses (1937) [Melancholy Questions]

The primary source for this edition is the one existing holograph manuscript written in ink preserved in the Fons Manuel Blancafort at the Biblioteca de Catalunya, reference number M.4891/22b. The manuscript contains some notations written in pencil, apparently from a later revision, all of which have been incorporated in this edition. The text is based on the original poem by Josep Mª LópezPicó (1932), published in 1948 by Selecta in 1948 as part of the collection Entre els ocells i els àngels [Between Birds and Angels].

3. Cançó de l'únic camí (1937) [Song of the Only Way]

Based on an original by Blancafort composed in 1966 for contralto and piano (premièred by Carmen Bustamante), Manuel Oltra made this orchestra version in a tribute to the author of its lyrics, Tomàs Roig i Llop that
