In this Concert version for Guitar and Wind Sextet, version of the Concerto Concert for guitar and strings No 1, op. 52, Jaume Torrent sets forth a series of colloquial processes of great interest through which the guitar does not renounce t any time its melodic-harmonic language, establishing a dialogue with the orchestra and conveying an aesthetic based on the extended tonalities which hold certain characteristics similar to those of modal music. It also shows an evident balance between the expressiveness of the ideas and the formal aspect of the music, that is to say, in the way of exposing the musical thought.  The three movements of the concerto are ordered according to the traditional canon «Allegro» - «Lento» - «Allegro» and in all of them we can appreciate an effective use of the guitaristic resources in spite of the fact that they are submerged within the dense polyphonic language of the instrumental ensemble. In the third movement we are especially struck by the use of an original technique created by Jaume Torrent for the execution of the scales that appear in it.

When in 1997 Jaume composed the Concerto for Guitar and String Orchestra No. 1, op. 52, he could not have imagined that, years later, the Seville Band, through its conductor Francisco Javier Gutierrez Juan, would propose him to perform it with a reduced group of wind instruments (version by Antonio Moreno). The present edition is the result of this happy initiative that has culminated in this original version full of color and rich timbre, premiered in Seville in August 2021.
