Sonatina was written in 1994 and is dedicated to my daughter Susanna.

I believe that Sonatina for violin solo is one of my best works. My experience as a violin teacher led me to create a score to help the technical progress of young instrumentalists. I created a work in which technical difficulties both as regards the left hand as that of the bow appear in the most natural way.

A melodic design of ten notes, clearly alluding to the Sonata for solo violin written by Prokofiev in 1947, is the engine of this score structured in four movements. The first movement has a humorous character with a variety of bow strokes. The second is a slow nostalgic movement in double strings. The third is a "Scherzo" of mysterious character with fast figurations in triplet. The fourth movement shows a greater virtuoso character.
