Concertino for violin and string orchestra is a work composed in 1993. It is a friendly score with a certain virtuosic touch whose main concern has been to create a relaxed atmosphere in which the soloist and the orchestra can spontaneously display their technical and expressive abilities. It is a work of similar duration to the baroque concertos and divided into its three typical movements. Two fast ones framing a slow one. The first two - Allegro burlesco and Adagio cantabile - are developed according to the ABA scheme. The third movement begins with a -cadenza- by the soloist which takes up thematic material from the preceding slow movement to link without interruption with the -Presto- which uses as its main idea the melodic pattern that opens the -Allegro burlesco-, but more determined and in ternary time. The work was composed expressly for the violinist Gerard Claret and the "Orquestra Nacional de Cambra d'Andorra". Recordings: Hermitage Orchestra-Camerata St. Petersburg, violin soloist: Sergey Malov, conducted by Alexis Soriano. Rehearsal (ENY-2003)
